17 Jun 1880 CENSUS Emery Orson Lane
Maine, Kennebec, Winthrop Village, LANE Family
According to the 1880 Census, Emery Orson, 22, was a boarder in the home of Daniel and Mary Gale of Winthrop. He was employed as a farm laborer.
If Emery Orson was 22 in 1880, then his birth year would be 1858. This is different than the information from the family, and from the information given on the 1900 Census. Also, I am curious about the relationship between the Lane family and the Gale family (if any).
His brother Frank, 20, was boarding in the same household, and was said to have had a “job wagon.” [“Job Wagon” means a delivery man, or expressman; someone who hires for transport or odd jobs. In modern terms, this would most likely correlate to an “owner/operator” truck or van driver.]
