1940 CENSUS Emery Orson Lane

Maine, Kennebec, Fayette

By the 1940 Census, Emery Orson Lane indicated that he was unable to work. He was 80 years old. He stated that he had completed one year of high school (in 1874, as previously noted). The family had lived in the same house in 1935.

Rose M., 61, wife, housekeeper, did not work outside the home in 1939. She stated that she had completed the 8th grade.

Also living at the farm in 1940 were:  Ronald H., 29, who had completed 8th grade, was doing private work as a laborer and lumberman, and who had earned $450 in 1939; Eunice O., 21, had graduated high school; Roger N., 17, was a junior in high school in 1940; and Hayden D. Lane, grandson, 1.

I am proud to say that this farm is still in the family, and currently occupied by the youngest member of the family.
