MARRIAGE OF EMERY ORSON LANE & ROSE MABEL HASKELL

According to their Marriage License, Emery Orson Lane married Rose Mabel Haskell on 28 Nov 1897. This is one year later than what was recorded by the family: “In Oct 1896 he married Rose Mabel Haskell of South Chesterville.”

The marriage record states that Emery O. Lane, 37, was a teamster, born in Readfield and residing in Fayette. Rose Haskell, 19, was listed as a housekeeper, born in Livermore, residing in Chesterville. Their marriage intention was filed on 23 Nov 1897, and they were married on 28 Nov 1897 by E.T. Whittimore, clergyman, in Chesterville, Maine. This was the first marriage for both parties.

The parents of the groom were listed as:  Geo. M. Lane, farmer, born and residing in Readfield; and, Ellen Maddox [sic], housekeeper, born in Chesterville and residing in Readfield. The parents of the bride were listed as:  C.T. Haskell, farmer, born in East Livermore and residing in Chesterville; and, Lucy Tufts, housekeeper, born in Wilton and residing in Chesterville. The certificate was recorded by A.S. Gill, Chesterville Town Clerk.
